Year of Establishment : 1951-52

Introduction :

Initially 280.00 hectare waste, stoned, herbed and shrubed land is acquired from Department of Agriculture, Saurashtra State in 1951-52. After 3 years hard work, this land is brought under cultivation. In year 1956, Agricultural Research work is started. 113 hectare adjoining land of Maharshi Dayanand Trust is donated to Government of Saurashtra, in 1960. Agricultural University, Junagadh is established in 1960. After establishment of Agricultural University, to enhance research work of different crops, the land is transferred to different crop specialist from Sagadividi. Now a days this farm consist 77.78 hectare total land and 66.56 hectare cultivated land.
Now a days this centre works as a seed producing centre. Large scale nucleolus, breeder foundation and certified seed production programmer are taken at this farm. Truthful seed of main crops of the fegion like groundnut, cotton, wheat, bajra and pulses are produced and direct distributed to the farmers. In the remaining land the commercial crop production are taken.

This centre consists and maintain the orchard of mango, chiku and ambla.

Objectives :

1. Evaluation of improved crop varieties and suitable agronomic practices in collaboration with various crop and subject matter specialists to get ultimate goal of uplifting the production of important crops grown in Saurashtra region.
2. To produce and multiply the parent, nucleolus breeder and foundation seeds for various high yielding crop varieties.
3. To work as a demonstration unit for improved agricultural technology and modern practices to the farmers of the village in surrounding area of this university campus.
4. Agronomical experiments and research work.
5. Truthful and certified seed production and commercial crop production.

"Long term experiment on fertilizer application to groundnut crop and its effect on fertility status on the soil." This experiment continue from 1975.

"Integrated nutrient management in groundnut rabi castor crop sequence". Second year.
